Screening on the incorporation of 1-deoxy-D-xylulose into biosynthesis of second metabolites in plants

Abstract

|
It has been long assumed that mevalonate is the only precursor of isopentenyl diphosphate in biosynthesis of isoprene units of the components in most of plants. 1-deoxy-D-xylulose is one of the recently known alternative source for isopentenyl diphosphate. To test the variety of the incorporation of 1-deoxy-D-xylulose in biosynthesis of secondary metabolites in plants, cell suspension culture of 25 plants were established in six-well culture plate supplemented with labled 1-deoxy-D-xylulose. The radioactive metabolites were detected as spots on TLC plate with phospho image luminescence analyser.
